After the refreshing, empowering, and exciting trip to Carson City I have a new lust for life with plein air. One of the judges from Carson, Kristi Grussendorf, gave an incredible demo of her processes with watercolor. So, I got what she called "a big floppy brush" and used more water than usual, changing my techniques a little. I went to Eagle Island Park in Meridian, Idaho where some crisp air and beautiful blue skies met me. I decided to go for two different pieces today. One of my favorite watercolor pads, the Strathmore 500 traveler journal was along for the ride on this one. I went for a building and a neat circular growth in the trees. I have also decided to embrace the thick black outlines in my work as part of my "style" for how I do this from now on. It helps me bridge the gap between plein air and my comic book style.
