Looking out towards the Lucky Peak area from the Oregon Trail Trailhead, southeast of Boise off of Highway 21. The light changed quickly, and I tried to have some fun with it. Trying my Sakura Koi watercolors on Strathmore 500 series Heavyweight Mixed Media paper. I am not sure why I got this paper other than it was on sale at a local art supply store. It does not let the watercolors bleed or do their thing very loosely. While I kind of enjoy that to a certain degree, I find it is helping me make the transition from oils to watercolors a little easier. The paint goes where I put it, but it has been hard to remember that with watercolor, I have to think light to dark. Oils are dark first, and highlights are last.
The sky was breathtaking, clouds were lively and colorful. As the sun began to set, it's light reflections towards the east really gave me some incredible views.
