Snowbie Creek. January 16th, 2022.

I had the urge to get out an paint today, in part because it is just starting to get warmer outside even though there is snow in some parts. I decided to go northeast to Robie Creek Park. This little area is in a little canyon and is quite lovely. The snow, however, was very densely packed on the ground in the park so much that folks had walked and packed a trail into and through the park. Luckily, I found a hillside that had been getting exposed to the sun enough that the snow had melted to I could sit down. It was still cold, I was wearing gloves, leggings, knit hat, and of course my dad's tan down jacket. This jacket goes with my on my travels and lives in the car most of the time. However, it has become a great ally in these colder months. I got settled in, and started to paint with the hopes that the sun would keep my paints/water warm enough not to freeze like the last time.

As I got started, I fund myself really happy, though challenged, with this vertical, snow-covered scene. I was using a "home created/intended" pallette of colors and my big floppy brush and water jar. This transition has been challenging but I enjoy this palette more than the other fancy one I made. I found myself especially challenges of making a "warm" or "cool" piece, and it ended up being a bit warm like the other snowy scene I did on New Years. However, I was more aware of the warm colors and dialed it back a bit. I was pretty happy with how this turned out in the end after getting some ink down afterwards.
