It's probably one of my favorite places to go locally, the Trueblood Wildlife Area outside of Grand View, Idaho. Today the algae was brilliant neon green, a wonderful challenge for me in terms of painting. The other challenge was to find a place to set up near the water that was not covered in spider-infested cattails, grasses, and weeds. I found a little tree-like shrub to set up under near the water, but the insects and associated bugs are all over the damn place. The dragonflies are lovely little companions (one is in the photo even!) as well as the birds who came and went. I chose not to go in with the masking fluid this time, but something weird happened with the paper in the middle left side. It got, worn or something and started to change texture. In the end, I began to wonder about more seriously considering the inked outlines for my work and becoming more consistent with this as a style type. Fluid 6x12 watercolor paper with Sakura Koi travel watercolors and aquabrushes.
